Jungendstil Cabinet, circa 1900
Art Nouveau \ Jungendstil sideboard \ credenza, circa 1900 in mahogany.
This piece has a poppy theme, very characteristic of the Secessionist school. Five poppies adorn the cornice of the upper section. Two doors with beveled glass inserts and stylized brass hinges provide display space with two small carved poppies on the underframing. A beveled mirror, display shelves and two larger carved poppies with arabesque stems complete the hutch. The carved poppy motif is repeated on the exterior sides.
The lower section has a inset marble serving surface and a locking drawer with a brass pull. Further down, an open storage shelf surmounts two doors carved with large poppies and brass fittings.
Dimensions: height approximately 225 cm, width approximately 101 cm, depth approximately 52 cm. In restored condition.
